The 1975 are one of the hardest working bands in the UK, and after years of graft and brilliant releases, found huge success in 2013 with a string of hit singles and a No.1 album. This week they won the Worst Band Award at the 2014 NME Awards. That kinda sucks.
We don’t mind if The 1975 aren’t the hardest-rocking band on the planet. We don’t care if loads of teenage girls go to their shows and scream hysterically for frontman Matt Healy. We just like their songs, and to be honest, sometimes that’s all that should matter. Music is about pleasure, and if it sounds good, whatever your mood, then it’s doing the job.
The 1975 aren’t the only band we love to have been hit with some seriously fierce criticism. These are the bands we love, no matter what anyone else thinks. We don’t believe in ‘worst bands’."
